WINTER OF 2016 –– I was asked to design a limited edition poster for Night 4 of the concert series "The Night The Buzz Stole Christmas", hosted by Kansas City's local radio station 96.5 The Buzz. The poster was sold at the show with all proceeds going to the nonprofit organization, The Ronald McDonald House. The buffalo illustration took close to 16 hours to complete with a Pigma Micron 02, then inverted digitally for a scratched metallic feeling texture. The series is meant to embody the homegrown yet grunge music aspects of 96.5 The Buzz, as well as the folksy, indie rock music of Local Natives, Band of Horses, and their supporting artists. The imagery of the bison resonates within Middle America, while the grunge textures and typography reflect punk venue print design of the 70s and 80s. Using the names of the bands, I even found a way to group the typography of the lineup to the central thread of the concept, Natives of War.
